Japan Quake Auction Appeal

First, let me thank everyone who has been in touch, we are all OK and I am updating the other blog if you want to know what is going on. Well, I can't just sit here and do nothing, there is so much devastation, the death toll is continuing to get higher and just looking at the images it is obvious that there will be a lot of clean up ahead.
So, I have decided to run an auction and would be honoured if you could get involved.
I am planning to run it in the same way as the QLD flood appeal auction with each blogger holding an auction or raffle on their own blog. You can donate or give whatever you like, Montessori files or something you make or something you have bought but please choose something that you are willing to post worldwide.
The money will be donated to Global Giving once you have donated you will be sent a receipt number this will act as your raffle number, for those who win an auction you will need to send proof of donation to the person whom win from.

On Friday 18th March, I will have a master list of bloggers who will be running auctions/raffles from their blogs. You will have one week to bid on these auctions, and hopefully be the lucky winner of these great products. Auctions will be open for 1 week, and will close at midnight on Saturday 26th March. Now due to time zones, I suggest you post on your blog the time your auction will close AND the time zone you are in.

What can you do?

If you have a blog you can hold an auction/raffle, it is very straight forward.
If you are interested then please drop me a line for more information at
montessori.swapshop 'at' gmail 'dot' com
You can also help by bidding or buying raffle tickets, not only might you win something great but you are helping people in need. I will do a post with a step by step guide on how to donate.
Spread the word! If you blog/tweet/FB help get the message out! Keep checking back for more information. There is a button on the top right of my other blog, I will be running things from there, copy the code to add it as a badge to your blog.

I feel very blessed to have my family and friends safe, we are still getting aftershocks, as I type in fact. I hope everyone reading this has managed to contact their loved ones. I have to thank everyone who contacted me one way or another, knowing that we are in your thoughts means a great deal to me.

  1. Jo, I mentioned that you have set up a Japan Quake Appeal project over at Montessori by Hand.
I mentioned about your efforts that you have listed over on your other blog.
If you would want to give specifics as to what you want folks to do, please feel free to send an email out to the whole group or else please feel free to provide a direct link to your Japan Quake Appeal. Since you mentioned Global Giving, I have also listed an article in the links section that shows all of the recognized, approved nonprofit organizations that are sending in relief to the region.
We are all thinking and praying for all of you who have been affected by this earthquake and tsunami.
    Colleen
