Montessori Guide needed in Mexico

One of my Montessori mentors when I first started out was Meg from Montessori By Hand (now of Sew Liberated). At the time she was living and teaching in a rural school in Mexico and she shared her life and all the beautiful things that she made for the school. A couple of years ago she moved back to the US and a new teacher took over the position and now the school is in the position where they need a new teacher.
If you are interested in the moving to Mexico and taking up the role, please go and read the details on Meg's blog here

Call for submissions

Firstly, I just want to explain that at the moment Monday is my Goldmine day so I go through my reader and pick out what to use and write up the post. I am trying to stay ahead so some of the posts are scheduled for up to two weeks ahead. If I have left you a message say that I will be linking, I will, it might just take a few days for the post to appear!

I also want to do round ups targeting specific areas of the Montessori curriculum so every so often I will ask for submissions for specific topics, if you have something in your archives that you think is suitable please let me know.

The post MUST include at least one clear photograph and by sending a submission you are giving me permission to use the post and crop the photo to fit the format that I use. The image will be linked back to  your post, the final post will look something like this.

This months topics...

  • red rods (especially any extensions)
  • infant (many people who are new to Montessori get interested when they have a baby, there is loads of info out there for the 3-6 range but not so much for 0-3, so any good posts about this would be great!)
  • Continent work on Australia (I will do the rest one by one)
  • Caterpillars and Butterflies
  • Grace and courtesy
  • the grammar farm
  • the bankers game
  • make - any handmade Montessori materials especially if it includes a tutorial.

How to subscribe....

  1. Send an email to the.montessori.goldmine@gmail.com
  2. In the title line write SUBMISSION + the topic
  3. In the body of the email send a link to the specific post

It should look something like this...

Please do not send links to items that you sell, if you want to promote your goods I am happy to do that, pop over HERE to see how to go about it.

Copyright

Just a few words regarding the use of images. Please do not use any images on this site without first contact me AND the original poster, the images I use in the posts are the property of other bloggers. Before I put up a post I contact or leave a message to let the blogger know that I will be using a specific post to link to. Every photo in the posts I put together has the name of the original blog and a link back to the original post.

For example, if you wanted to use this image, you should contact me and then follow the link and contact the owner of that blog.

Your link should say something on the lines of...
Working with phonics miniatures by A Bit Of This and A Bit Of That found via The Montessori Goldmine.
In that way, everyone is getting the linky love and credit they deserve.

I do have to resize many of the images I use mainly so that they fit in the frame and also a lot of bloggers use the original file which is too big and heavy. That doesn't change the fact that the image is still the property of the original poster.

I am trying to get the posts scheduled a week in advance so that if someone does not want to be featured I can pull their post before it is published (I couldn't really do that when I was first setting up) but that is the system I am working on now.

In my experience the majority of people are happy for you to link to their site/blog just remember to give credit where credit is due.

Meet The Sponsors

Well not actually a sponsor, more my own shop but by supporting my shop you are financially helping to support me which in turn allows me to be able to spend time on the Goldmine. So I would just like to take a couple minutes of your time to let you know what I have to offer....
Apart from Montessori I love sewing and creating and I have Japanese fabrics for sale in my Etsy store, you can be sure that they are Japanese prints and I have a tendency to lean towards cute, I am also always on the look out for cool boy prints.

I also design sewing patterns and kits with easy to follow instructions which you can buy from Etsy or from my online store, the online store also has a number of PDF brooch kits which make great little presents or beginners projects.

And because I like making things there are also a number of items such as softies, purses and bags available. I don't like production line type of sewing so you can be sure that what you buy is a one of a kind.
And finally, I have a number of Montessori 3 part cards in PDF format, I am working on a new website for them but for now they are available here.

Meet The Sponsors - Mee A Bee

Jacqui from Mee A Bee is one of those people who is a stickler for detail, from the fabric she uses down to the thread, you can be sure she has spent many hours researching to make sure it is the best quality and safe for little ones. Most of the fabric used at Mee A Bee is Oeko-Tex certified which means that they use no dangerous inks, dyes or chemicals in the printing process. Even the straps are safe to chew on, not that you would want to chew on such a cute bag.

Mee A Bee bags are specifically designed for kids, there are toddler bags as well as bags for bigger kids, you can even ask Jacqui for a custom design or size.

What I love about Mee A Bee is the great range of bags for boys! Beetles, diggers, pirates and dinosaurs, what you won't find is the the latest TV characters instead all the themes enrich the child's imagination.

and there are also some lovely girls bags too, princesses, ballerinas and ladybirds to name but a few, the problem you will have is choosing which design you like most!

Introducing the sponsors - Polliwog

Michele at Polliwog makes beautiful sandpaper letters, they are stylish and modern looking and affordable.
The sandpaper letters we use, I made myself about 3 years ago and it took me forever, if I was starting over again I would be straight over to Polliwog to buy a set rather than go through it all again.

She sells regular sized lower case, upper case and numbers which are mounted on a 3 inch wide by 5 inch high piece of 1/8 inch thick birch plywood plus mini sized cards for those short on space. They have a marked spot on each letter indicating the starting point. The wood and the sandpaper are cut out with a laser engraver for a nice precision cut each time.

What's more, if you are looking for a specific size or font Michele is willing to work with you to try and make what you are looking for.

A BIG thank you!

I just wanted to thank everyone who has dropped by and for all the great emails and messages that I have had over the last few days plus a special thank you to everyone who has blogged or passed on the word via FB/twitter etc, it really means a lot to me!

I haven't managed to reply to everyone yet, I have read all your messages and your kind words have touched me, gmail isn't letting me into my account just now, so it might take a while longer!

Regarding submissions, I have a lot of Montessori based blogs in my reader and I am trying to keep the posts varied, some I have bookmarked for a round up like the baby rooms or sensory tubs. I haven't put up a blog roll instead it is a contributors list, as the contributors grow, so will the list. I have a number of French and Spanish language blogs in my reader and a handful of other languages but I would like to add more, so if have your own blog or know of one/some in languages other than English please let me know, of course, new to me English blogs are welcome too!

Once I have got into the swing of things I will put a call out for submissions on a certain topic/area, I am sure a lot of people have got great posts in their archives that are worth sharing.

Finally, if you do visit any of the blogs featured here and you like what you see, then please leave them a comment, it is lovely getting comments out of the blue, you will make somebody's day, I know you will :o)

PS. there is still time to enter the culture box items giveaway, the crafty goods giveaway and the bento goodies giveaway!
